The use of Mupirocin to cure the bacterial infection can some times
lead to other unwanted side effects also. These side effects can
also be eliminated if used with due care and under the supervision
and guidance of a doctor or the skin specialist.
When the use of this drug is just initiated it can lead to burning
or itching of the skin. Normal experience of any of this is normal
but if experienced in adverse conditions the doctor should be
consulted. In the long run Mupirocin if used for too long can give
rise to another skin infection or can say the fungal infection.
Patients having very sensitive skin also log in complain of rashes
on the skin due to improper use of Mupirocin.
Mupirocin show not much effects or any side effect on the fetus thus
is a safe ointment that can be used even during pregnancy. Not much
information is available if Mupirocin is absorbed by the skin and
secreted to the mother’s milk, and so advised to avoid using it when
the breast feeding is done. If Mupirocin is used intranasal it can
cause headache. his is experienced by 10% of the patients.
Runny nose is also a problem to 1 out of 18 patients using
mupirocin.5% of patients experience congestion, while the
possibility of sore throat is only for 4% of people. Still lesser
effecting side effects are the change in taste perception with 3%
people ,having nasal irritation in just 2% people and also cough
having the possibility in only 2% patients using Mupirocin.Not many
serious side effects are expected to occur with the use of
Mupirocin.Some unusual experiences are the redness, dryness,
irritation or peeling off of the skin.
